There is a quiet, stark beauty to the desert. I grew up on the edge of the Great Basin Desert in the Western US and I often looked at its harsh, inhospitable landscape in disdain. Yet, as I grew older, I learned to appreciate the deserts. They are harsh, but the resilience of life and the stubborn determination of the plants, people, and animals to not “barely survive” but thrive in the wilderness is captivating.
March has started with a bang! Roaring white lions all over the yard are slowly melting away and they will soon give way to spring. Meanwhile, we are pacing, waiting for the time and weather to change.
We went out into the calm after the storm. While walking, we came across a handful of perfectly still, reflective, puddles. Winter beauty above and beneath. #theupsidedown ?
We were snowed in this past week, like so many others! We spent part of the time going through our photos from last spring. Our trip to San Diego was fantastic! Of course, as animal lovers, we just had to see the Zoo and Sea World! We are hoping to get out more as the weather turns but I think we have one more good storm coming. Here’s to thinking of sunshine, amazing places and good times.
