There is a quiet, stark beauty to the desert. I grew up on the edge of the Great Basin Desert in the Western US and I often looked at its harsh, inhospitable landscape in disdain. Yet, as I grew older, I learned to appreciate the deserts. They are harsh, but the resilience of life and the stubborn determination of the plants, people, and animals to not “barely survive” but thrive in the wilderness is captivating.
February is nearing an end and there are still more storms in the forecast, but our brave cherry trees are ready to burst onto the scene!
